FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

ABOUT NEWBORN, BABY, MATERNITY, FAMILY LIFESTYLE SESSIONS

When is the best time to schedule my newborn session?

Whilst I am happy to photograph babies of any age, it is best to schedule your session before your baby is 2 weeks old, the ideal age being between 5 and 10 days old. Why such a small window? Babies under 14 days tend to sleep better and still have the natural curl from having been in the womb. This age therefore works best for sleepy and curled up poses. After 5 days, your milk will have come in and it will be easier to get him or her full and contented. After 2 weeks, they tend to be more aware of the world around them and stretch out. They sometimes also get milk spots, become colicky or get a growth spurt and don’t sleep so well. They are only this little for a little while… you will want to remember them just like that.

I don’t know when my baby will be born, so when should I book?

It is ideal to book prior to your baby’s birth as my schedule can fill up quickly and those first 2 weeks of your baby’s life will fly by. However I understand that it is not always possible and I am very flexible in my schedule so please do not hesitate to contact me if baby has arrived and you don’t have a session scheduled.

Once you book your session with me, I will provisionally book your session for around a week past your expected due date and, depending on when the baby decides to make his or her debut, we will either keep this date or reschedule. I limit the number of sessions I take per week to allow flexibility as most babies do not arrive on their due date!

How long does a newborn session last for?

I like Newborn sessions to be calm and relaxed. Babies are unpredictable and the length of your session will depend on how quickly your little one settles. I never rush a session and always follow your baby’s lead, so I prefer to ask parents to allow 4 hours for their session and try not to book any commitments straight after the session.  On average newborn sessions with me last around 3 hours but this always depends on the baby.

Can siblings and parents be part of the session?

Of course they can! I always recommend to new parents and siblings to take part in the session, as these are often the most cherished photographs. However we need to organise before the session what to expect as siblings are not always willing to pose with your new arrival.

How many photographs can I expect?

Galleries usually contain around 30-50 images.

Can I purchase the digital files?

Of course you can. Digital files are one of my most requested products. Having 2 young boys, I know how difficult it is to choose a few photographs to display when you love them all. This is why I offer the option to purchase the full gallery in high definition as well as albums. I will guide you through what products are best suited to your need during ordering.

I have booked my session – What to expect?

Once your session is booked, I will contact you to discuss your requirements. I have plenty of props and backdrops and I discuss with clients their tastes and preferences in order to ensure that they get the type of images they are after. I will also email you all you need to know about your session and how to best prepare for it.

Do you sell or give away RAW/unedited files?

I do not sell or give out unedited/RAW images. All digital images given are given under the agreement that they are to be used for personal printing and sharing. They are not to be edited, sold or used otherwise without written permission.

What if it rains on the day of our shoot?

If I decide on the day of the shoot that the weather is unsuitable then we can reschedule at no extra cost. I have done family shoots in the snow, drizzle and cold before and got some beautiful photos, so don’t despair if it’s not 25 degrees and sunny! An overcast day is absolutely fine and actually the most flattering light to shoot in. It’s just if it’s pouring down that we may have to reschedule.

WEDDINGS

Do you only do locals weddings in South East London?

Although based in South East London I would love to see the country so I am more than willing to travel around the UK (and abroad). Depending on your wedding schedule and the distance I'd have to travel, this may incur additional time, travel and/or accommodation costs. Every wedding is unique and different so please ask and let's see if we can work something out.

Do you take group shots and formal shots of the Bride and Groom?

Yes I do. Although my style of photography is relaxed, I do take time to shoot family and friend group shots because I know how meaningful they can be. I will send you a Group shot list for you to fill up before the wedding with the names of those you would like in your group shots, along with a willing Bridesmaid or designated person on the day, to help ensure the shots run smoothly and to keep the standing around to a minimum.

How much time will the group and formal couple shots take on the day?

I normally suggest to keep the list to a maximum of 10 group shoots so you can enjoy the rest of your special day but to give you an idea, a group shot list of 10 shots can take around 45 minutes. For the slightly more formal shots of the Bride and Groom I recommend approximately 30 minutes, but am willing to carry on for longer or cut it short if that is what you would prefer.

Do you offer Pre-Wedding/Engagement Shoots?

Yes I do offer Pre-Wedding Shoots. They last approximately 2 hours and can take place in a location of your choice, but I will also suggest some fantastic locations. This is a fantastic opportunity for you to get used to being photographed and to give you an understanding of what to expect from me on your big day.

How long after our wedding will we have to wait before receiving our images?

After your wedding it will take approximately 4-6 weeks before you receive your images.

How many images will we receive?

This depends on the length of time you'd like me to take photographs for! If you opt for only a few hours of photography you can expect approximately 1200 images but for photography from Bridal Preparations to the First Dance you can expect approximately 400-600 images.

Are the images in colour or black and white?

I edit all images individually, to bring out their best qualities. Some suit colour and some black and white. If they look good in both, you will get both!

Can we print the images ourselves?

Yes you can - I provide you with watermark-free images as high resolution JPEG files on an USB, with a license for your personal use. If you'd prefer a higher quality result than from the average high-street printer, I do offer a printing service with the option to include mounts and/or frames.

Do you offer albums?

I do. Although you will receive all of your images on an USB, I think Wedding Albums are extremely important; they are family heirlooms to be enjoyed for years and by generations to come. I also offer smaller duplicates for parents. Photographs can look so much nicer in print form in a beautiful album as opposed to on a screen! However, I understand that not everybody agrees or can afford an album straight away, so I offer an album on one of my collection and also as an optional extra. There are many options for sizes and finishes so please contact me for more information.

Can we put our wedding images on Facebook, IG/Social Media?

Yes, please do! As well as the high resolution files which are suitable for printing, I provide you with low resolution files which are far more suitable for on-screen viewing and which you are able to upload onto the internet. These contain a small symbol in a corner to confirm they are protected by copyright law - to help protect both of us!

Can our friends and family order prints?

Yes they can. All you have to do is provide them with the password for your private gallery in the Client Area on my website and they can view the images and purchase prints or JPEG files directly from there.

CAKE SMASH & SPLASH

Do you provide the Cake?

Yes, The photographer has the cakes professionally made by a third-party.
